W.B. Yeats and the Noh Tradition Stamp Design
On February 9, 2017, An Post issued a souvenir miniature sheet to complement the stamp to celebrate W.B. Yeats and the Noh Tradition.

Born in Dublin on June 13, 1865, William Butler Yeats became Ireland’s first Nobel Literary Laureate in 1923. Yeats’ one-act play, At The Hawk’s Well, was published in 1917, and was the first play written in English that utilised many of the features of the Noh Theatre.

Noh is a form of theatre originating in the 14th century involving music, dance and drama. Plots are usually drawn from legend, history, literature and contemporary events, with themes often related to dreams, supernatural worlds, ghosts and spirits. The dual art of Noh and Kyogen (comical pieces performed during interludes of the main Noh performance) is known as Nogaku, and was listed as an intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO.
